The authority mentioned that the extended transition period enables operators to align their activities with the higher standards of the new legal framework. Industry brands demonstrating compliance with the norms or significant progress during this time can anticipate receiving a permanent Curaçao gambling certificate.

The range of requirements has grown to include:

Reasons for Prolonging the Transition Period

In autumn 2023, the implementation of the new regulatory format experienced delays during the legislative drafting stage. The situation worsened in 2024 as a result of numerous incomplete or incorrect documentation submissions.

Furthermore, some master permits expired during this period, leading the regulator to initiate a programme to prolong temporary licences.

Meanwhile, the decision faced criticism. Opponents filed a report, accusing the CGA of corruption, fraud, and money laundering. The regulator firmly denied all claims, highlighting that certification processes follow an established system aligned with top-tier global benchmarks.
